QT is preparing for Quilt Market Fall 2015!!!

International Quilt Market… it’s happening… in a Month!!!   The countdown begins and we are a tad busy!   If you are unfamiliar, Quilt Market is like THE event for shop owners to get together, get inspired and buy for their stores.  Everything from fabric, to patterns, to supplies and even software for quilt designing is exhibited.  It’s overwhelming, in a good way!

Imagine rows and rows of beautiful fabrics and projects and all the thread and accessories you can imagine in one place.  For us, it’s our “Oscars” or “Super Bowl” or “Insert big event that is both exhilarating and exhausting” here.  Twice a year, we travel to market and while there is no trophy or acceptance speech, the satisfaction of showing our latest and greatest fabrics and ideas while interacting with customers is our reward.

After Quilt Market, there is a Quilt festival where talented artists submit their amazing work to be shown off and hopefully, win a prize.   That alone can be so inspiring and I often look at the projects in awe of the time and passion dedicated to this craft.  The festival is open to the public, however, the convention is for shop owners and industry professionals only.

In the weeks leading up, I will make sure to include you in some of the preparations we are making.  Our fantastic team here is dedicated to making this a success.  We are like Santa’s elves!

Here are some pictures from our prep work.  While we work year-round, the months leading up to the fall and spring markets are nothing short of BUSY!!! I am glad we can take a minute to share what is going on with you!

We must ask you about your Stash!

Let’s face it – we all have our fabric stash.  We will discuss this again and again.  I am unapologetic for mine – it is part of who I am as a creative person.  You never know when you will need that 6″ strip of fabric from 1978.  It’s really really really important to keep it,  just in case.

 QT fabric stash…stock-pile…ummm hoard?

Here’s some of our QT stash… I was thinking that we should all take pictures of our “stash” and put the hashtag #MustAddtomyStash  Don’t forget to include #quiltingtreasuresfabrics Facebook is always a great way to show your stuff too!  Post a picture to our wall and/or tag us!

I still have fabric that is untouched in my “organized” plastic drawers, just screaming to be used.   Why do we do that?  For me, I know it’s because I want to be hit by the epiphany truck… just the right project for the right time…  You never know!

Having said that, here is the first of an ongoing theme to feature for our blog “Must Add to my Stash”  Take a peek, these collections are hitting the stores in September and will be a nice addition to your stash 😉

What do you think?… Must add to your stash??? It's a Ruff Life

If I want to calm down, I’ll buy some fabric, get a pattern, shut myself in a room and stay there for days, really happy. And at the end of it, you get a bedspread or some curtains or something to wear – it’s lovely.     Twiggy

Welcome to our very first QT blog!

At QT, we are dedicated to all things fabric and fantastic, all things that are Quilting Treasures! We are so proud of our heritage… did you know that we’ve been around since 1807…over 200 years in the fabric industry… WE KNOW FABRIC!

I’m Tiffany, I will coordinate the blogs that we post here at “On the QT”.  I will gather information to share with you and make this a fun stop for ideas, inspiration, and hopefully, some laughs along the way! I am an experienced textile designer/artist turned product development turned marketing manager. In these roles, I have designed the fabrics, helped turn them into products and all the while, talked about how fantastic they are… I am excited to start this blog adventure with you!

It is really something special to be part of a company that is so rich in history. I kind of get my geek on when I think about the many years of fabrics and countless projects that are out there because of this company! If you are a history buff, you’d love to see some of the great things we have in our library. Imagine a fabric swatch book from 1850 with production notes and details… I will definitely want to share that in an upcoming blog!

One of the most exciting things to know about us is that we are employee owners. We are proud of our history and nothing shows it more than the many long-term employees that are dedicated to making this company shine! We are constantly re-inventing ourselves, keeping in touch with the market, our customers (shops) and consumers. There’s something really satisfying about getting feedback on our collections! It’s a great feeling to share our passion for fabric and we hope you will join us to learn more about how we strive to keep everyone included in the creative effort. That includes our shop owner customers as well as quilters/sewers/crafters and DIY-ers who enjoy fabric and who want to imagine and create…just like us!

Our goal is to inspire you and help you find your fabric groove. We have a lot of different licensors and designers as part of our family of brands. We provide a variety of styles and genres to get your imagination flowing. There is something for everyone! We love fabric, we want to share that passion with you and hear about your QT favorites as well as your proud creative moments. Each of our brands was specifically developed to cater to different styles and audiences. Of course, you could love one, a couple or all of them! Our newest brand, Ink & Arrow is launching in December, we are very excited!

We’ll use this blog to feature upcoming collections… sharing what is trending and tips for how to make your ideas come to life! We’ll showcase designers and projects and ideas that can be passed along to other “fabric fanatics”.

We want to hear from you! If you have a blog post topic idea, let me know! This is what it is all about! Leave a comment, shoot me an email, we want this to be interactive and a place to collaborate!
