Shout out – The Carriage Quilt Shop

bizcardThe wonderful thing about quilt shops is there are no two alike.  In my Northeast jaunt, I discovered so many wonderful shops, and found that The Carriage Quilt Shop is like a second home.  Prepare to be welcomed with open arms and smiling faces.. and candy!   I think their business card says it all… Fabric, books, custom designs, machine quilting, giggles and more…

Sue and Linda, with their bright and shining personalities and passion for fabric, have an infectious spirit that make you want to hang out and “giggle” until your heart smiles!

I was fortunate enough to hang out for a few hours with Kevin, our Sales Manager and these lovely ladies.  We were showing them the latest fabrics and were joined by their entourage of spirited friends and family.  Samantha, Sue’s daughter, is a new quilter.  Finally catching the quilting bug after years of hopeful persuasion by her mom!  Now, she is unstoppable – check out her quilt below – amazing for a new designer, no?

Samantha showing us her beautiful work… and that’s Kevin, one of our many talented and dedicated Sales Managers!

It was wonderful to see the group’s reactions to the new designs; it reinforces why we do what we do!  We love sharing our passion for fabrics with shop customers and their customers!!!

My Minion friend…

In addition to my new human friends, I have a new Minion pal here!  This is a clever use of a panel!  Using a 36″ x 45″ panel, some coordinating fabrics and lots of stuffing… this  great standing pillow came to life!  Mr. Minion is super popular in the shop.  I wasn’t sure if I would be able to say goodbye… he’s so squeezable!

The Carriage Quilt Shoppe has a wonderful variety of fabrics.  We were so excited to see our Sew & Go Santa Claus Apron panel on display!

Another great display was using our ArtWorks digital print – is that a HD TV?  No, it’s s digital print panel!  🙂  IMG_1204.jpg

I spy some Desiree Designs!  Great infant/toddler section of their shop!

SNEAK PEEK – Carnivale by Debi Payne is arriving in shops in December!  We were playing with the mirror to see how it would look as a stack and whack!

Another clever idea…  They took our Ink & Arrow Cat’s Meow fabric and used fabric markers to color in the cats… how fun!  Customize your own tote bag like this!

Lots of great patterns!!!!

We had a wonderful time with everyone here.  This shop is in a wonderful town – lots of quaint shops and wonderful restaurants.  I am excited to see what they have in store for the next 18 years!  Make sure you stop in and tell them we said hello!

Lovely mom and daughter with the kitty mermaid Samantha made… so cute!!!

Until next time – SHOP your local fabric shop and have fun meeting new friends!!!

Shout out – Quilt Farm in Boston, NY

I had grandeur plans thinking I would blog every night about my adventures on the road with our Sales Manager, Kevin.  That being said, I had an awesome week-long adventure and I am back in the office ready to share!

Another great shop along on our road trip adventure was Quilt Farm.  This big barn of a shop has been in business since 1989 and features tons of space filled with fabulous fabrics.  Everything you need to get inspired for your next project is here, plus warm and friendly people to advise you!

Isabelle Schmitt, the owner, had just finished canning fruit when we arrived and gave me a tour. I was in awe as the space was never-ending.  There is a Christmas room and a charity quilt section, a large kitchen upstairs as well as a wonderful classroom space.  I was truly impressed with the layout and flow of this converted dairy barn.   If you are ever in the area, you must visit, not only for the fabric and the quilts and the wonderful company… look at this gorgeous road-side vista.   It was breathtaking!

Upon arrival, I knew this shop was going to be a treasure.  The atmosphere is so friendly and there are so many delightful places to turn!  I appreciated the section organized by color (color-geek that I am) but every nook had a purpose.  It was such fun to explore!

The upstairs has vaulted ceilings allowing for full displays of larger quilts!

Impressive section of the shop organized by color… a rainbow of possibilities!

Here is Isabelle in her spacious upstairs classroom.  So much room to create!

Another color section…. ❤

I will be back to this shop!  I intend to take a lovely road trip with my husband and explore this part of upstate New York some more.  It was great to stop and visit but I wasn’t able to linger as long as I wanted.  The homey feeling, the extensive amounts of fabrics and patterns and quilts, definitely tugged on my heart-strings to return!

Blog Shout Out! Old Creamery Fabrics!

We have the best sales managers and we are always so excited to hear about their experiences on the road.   Meeting up with our shop customers and learning more about the different shop offerings is one of the best parts of this industry.   Our Sales Manager, Kevin, sent us some photos and let us get to know this great shop in his territory – The  Old Creamery Fabrics!!!

This great shop, run by Diane and Greg Lake, has over 3,000 bolts of fabric including a large assortment of wide backing fabrics! We love that so many of our shops are family run businesses… pictured above is Diane, her grandson Robbie, and their dog, Lady! Everyone’s joining in the fabric fun!

In addition to their great fabric selection, The Old Creamery has turned the apartment above their shop into a retreat center! As the brochure states, isn’t it every quilter’s dream to wake up in a fabric shop? How true is that?!  Think about this next time you need a girl’s getaway – Friends, fun, fabric… all in beautiful Ellisburgh, NY.

Head over to their Facebook to see more great photos!   If you head over there, tell them QT Fabrics sent you!

Until next time, our sales team will be traveling the country, meeting with as many shops as possible to share our passion for fabric!  Head to your local quilt shop today!!!
