“The Ladybug wears no disguises.
She is just what she advertises.
A speckled spectacle of spring,
A fashion statement on the wing….
A miniature orange kite.
A tiny dot-to-dot delight.”

COLOR – Lovely, vibrant, dazzling & wonderful color…

One of my favorite things, besides fabric (of course) and print/pattern (of course) is color.

I LOVE COLOR!

I remember opening up my new crayon box and sitting there studying the crayons as if they were color chips.  I didn’t dare use my favorite colors, and, ummmm, every color was my favorite!  🙂 Fortunately,  I was lucky enough to have multiple sets of crayons.  There was one that was dedicated for “show only”.     Kind of like your mom’s “good scissors” that were only for fabric.  I still think twice before using my scissors – every time!!!

Things haven’t changed much, I still love staring at color and I found my niche working here!  I’m so lucky!

So…when I saw this collection of “basics” or “blenders” by Dan Morris, I immediately fell in love.  This is my visual Ode to Scrollscapes and I hope you enjoy it!

This is my favorite color from Scrollscapes, Teal!  It’s so pretty!!!

Below, I took samples from the fabric to show the variations within the selvedge to selvedge repeat! So many great options.  It’s really a bunch of fabrics in one!

I’ll be back next week to talk a little more about colors, color stories and how to pick the perfect palette for your next project!

Next week, I’ll announce a new contest where you could be the winner of a fat quarter of each of these colors!   Come on back, we want to spoil you with fabulous, colorful, Scrollscapes fabrics!

Sunset is still my favorite color, and rainbow is second.

What are you most thankful for???

I am thankful for…  so many things.  I make it a point before I go to bed each night to think of something I was especially grateful for that day.  Of course, there are days of sunshine and days of shadows, but there is ALWAYS something to appreciate.

The above designs are from our “In Bloom” collection by Dan Morris.   I love the rich, vivid colors and the beautiful flowers.  Color and pattern are some things that always bring me Joy, I hope you find joy in the little things today and always… Happy Thanksgiving!

Make it a habit to tell people thank you. To express your appreciation, sincerely and without the expectation of anything in return. Truly appreciate those around you, and you’ll soon find many others around you. Truly appreciate life, and you’ll find that you have more of it.

QT at Quilt Market – Recap #1

Well, a few of us have returned from Quilt Market in Houston.  The Marketing group arrived in Houston last Wednesday to set up and prep for our biggest trade show of the year!  International Quilt Market in Houston is an industry convention for shop owners to buy fabrics, notions, and patterns for their shops.  They come from all over the world and visit exhibitors like us to see our collections, network, and get inspired!  It’s a great event with lots of color and creativity!!!

Above, see how color & creativity SHINE in our Block of the Month quilt “Festival of Stars” designed by Pine Tree Country Quilts and our “Stained Glass” quilt designed by Cyndi Hershey. Both feature our new Ombre Scroll fabric. These are just being shown at Market and will be available to shops in March 2016 – I know… “Patience is a virtue”. 🙂

While at market, most of the companies meet with peers and also with potentially new customers, magazine editors, book publishers and the like.  Our team has been busy!  We were especially excited for this market as we have a completely new booth!   This market was the launch of our new booth styling – hard walls with plenty of room to hang and pin quilts/fabric as well as a space for creating visual vignettes!

Speaking of vignettes, our licensed artist/designer, Janet Wecker Frisch had her own section that she beautifully decorated to show off her collection, Sewing Seeds II which will be available in stores in March 2016.

And… if the décor wasn’t impressive enough, she and Jo Packham, founder of “Where Women Create” got together for an Issue signing. The Winter 2016 issue features Janet’s studio and gives a glimpse into her creative world.

That was just a snippet of Market, we’ll blog again soon to share more with you!!!

A great accomplishment shouldn’t be the end of the road, just the starting point for the next leap forward.

Welcome to our very first QT blog!

At QT, we are dedicated to all things fabric and fantastic, all things that are Quilting Treasures! We are so proud of our heritage… did you know that we’ve been around since 1807…over 200 years in the fabric industry… WE KNOW FABRIC!

I’m Tiffany, I will coordinate the blogs that we post here at “On the QT”.  I will gather information to share with you and make this a fun stop for ideas, inspiration, and hopefully, some laughs along the way! I am an experienced textile designer/artist turned product development turned marketing manager. In these roles, I have designed the fabrics, helped turn them into products and all the while, talked about how fantastic they are… I am excited to start this blog adventure with you!

It is really something special to be part of a company that is so rich in history. I kind of get my geek on when I think about the many years of fabrics and countless projects that are out there because of this company! If you are a history buff, you’d love to see some of the great things we have in our library. Imagine a fabric swatch book from 1850 with production notes and details… I will definitely want to share that in an upcoming blog!

One of the most exciting things to know about us is that we are employee owners. We are proud of our history and nothing shows it more than the many long-term employees that are dedicated to making this company shine! We are constantly re-inventing ourselves, keeping in touch with the market, our customers (shops) and consumers. There’s something really satisfying about getting feedback on our collections! It’s a great feeling to share our passion for fabric and we hope you will join us to learn more about how we strive to keep everyone included in the creative effort. That includes our shop owner customers as well as quilters/sewers/crafters and DIY-ers who enjoy fabric and who want to imagine and create…just like us!

Our goal is to inspire you and help you find your fabric groove. We have a lot of different licensors and designers as part of our family of brands. We provide a variety of styles and genres to get your imagination flowing. There is something for everyone! We love fabric, we want to share that passion with you and hear about your QT favorites as well as your proud creative moments. Each of our brands was specifically developed to cater to different styles and audiences. Of course, you could love one, a couple or all of them! Our newest brand, Ink & Arrow is launching in December, we are very excited!

We’ll use this blog to feature upcoming collections… sharing what is trending and tips for how to make your ideas come to life! We’ll showcase designers and projects and ideas that can be passed along to other “fabric fanatics”.

We want to hear from you! If you have a blog post topic idea, let me know! This is what it is all about! Leave a comment, shoot me an email, we want this to be interactive and a place to collaborate!
