There is pleasure in the pathless woods, there is rapture in the lonely shore, there is society where none intrudes, by the deep sea, and music in its roar; I love not Man the less, but Nature more.

Hello…

How could we resist this?  I mean, our new collection, Talk to Me  is arriving in your favorite fabric store right now!!!

It’s super exciting and we want to celebrate with one of our favorite versions of this most appropriate song!  Adele’s Hello!  (The Quirky version ;))

I was at a local flea market a year or so ago and a little boy, aged 8-ish, saw a rotary telephone.   He turned to his mom and said “What IS that thing? It looks like a phone but what is THAT?”  as he pointed to the rotary dial.   I aged a good 15 years that moment!  🙂

Nostalgia is alive and well.  What is old is new again!   We can appreciate the kitsch of rotary phones, typewriters and television sets in this fantastic new collection from Alicia Jacobs!  How divine!  I just adore the colors and the nod to retro communication devices!!!  One day, in the future, there will be a fabric collection with smart phones and laptops and flat screens and we will laugh and remember how silly it was to use those!

Until then, enjoy this ensemble of fabulously fun fabrics! Click to view the whole collection on our website!

And… if you have a minute, check out this video of  “How to dial your phone by Bell System’ from 1954”  It’s over 9 minutes long and I umm, well,  I watched the whole thing 🙂    Love it!!!   Click on the phone below!

“The Ladybug wears no disguises.
She is just what she advertises.
A speckled spectacle of spring,
A fashion statement on the wing….
A miniature orange kite.
A tiny dot-to-dot delight.”

Fa La La La Laaaaa La La La Last minute Christmas Giveaway!!!

Gotta love working up to the last minute on gifts.  I am super skilled at procrastination.  I would have my doctorate in this subject, if it were offered.   Every year, my parents would pull their hair out because the day before the big Christmas party at school I would take over the kitchen table and have all of my elves (read:  my parents:  willing or not) help me finish up my holiday extravaganza of presents…Of course, this is part of my charm right?

It’s that time of year, when last minute Christmas presents are being whipped up and we have just the thing to help you out.  If you are like the many people who are last minute crafters/sewers/creators like me…. I have a little giveaway for you!!!!

Here’s how to win!

Check out our last blog,  Color, featuring Dan Morris’ Scrollscapes fabric  and let me know your favorite color by commenting on the blog & you will be eligible to win!    That’s pretty easy wouldn’t you say?

Comment by Friday 12/18 at 10AM so we can send out your prize just in time to whip it up for Christmas.   You’ll have plenty of time – especially if you wait until the last minute.  That’s the beauty of working with Fabric panels, they are a wonderful quick-fix way to show off your talents and to share the joy!

I will pick 3 people at random who will win one of the following fabric sets!

COLOR – Lovely, vibrant, dazzling & wonderful color…

One of my favorite things, besides fabric (of course) and print/pattern (of course) is color.

I LOVE COLOR!

I remember opening up my new crayon box and sitting there studying the crayons as if they were color chips.  I didn’t dare use my favorite colors, and, ummmm, every color was my favorite!  🙂 Fortunately,  I was lucky enough to have multiple sets of crayons.  There was one that was dedicated for “show only”.     Kind of like your mom’s “good scissors” that were only for fabric.  I still think twice before using my scissors – every time!!!

Things haven’t changed much, I still love staring at color and I found my niche working here!  I’m so lucky!

So…when I saw this collection of “basics” or “blenders” by Dan Morris, I immediately fell in love.  This is my visual Ode to Scrollscapes and I hope you enjoy it!

This is my favorite color from Scrollscapes, Teal!  It’s so pretty!!!

Below, I took samples from the fabric to show the variations within the selvedge to selvedge repeat! So many great options.  It’s really a bunch of fabrics in one!

I’ll be back next week to talk a little more about colors, color stories and how to pick the perfect palette for your next project!

Next week, I’ll announce a new contest where you could be the winner of a fat quarter of each of these colors!   Come on back, we want to spoil you with fabulous, colorful, Scrollscapes fabrics!

Sunset is still my favorite color, and rainbow is second.

What are you most thankful for???

I am thankful for…  so many things.  I make it a point before I go to bed each night to think of something I was especially grateful for that day.  Of course, there are days of sunshine and days of shadows, but there is ALWAYS something to appreciate.

The above designs are from our “In Bloom” collection by Dan Morris.   I love the rich, vivid colors and the beautiful flowers.  Color and pattern are some things that always bring me Joy, I hope you find joy in the little things today and always… Happy Thanksgiving!

Make it a habit to tell people thank you. To express your appreciation, sincerely and without the expectation of anything in return. Truly appreciate those around you, and you’ll soon find many others around you. Truly appreciate life, and you’ll find that you have more of it.

It’s Ink & Arrow

cropped-cropped-inkarrowlogo.jpg

We’re here!!!  Well, we’ve been here working to bring Ink & Arrow out into the world, but we had to wait until just now to yell it from the rooftops!!!

Fabric Shout Out

It’s been hard to keep my trap shut 😉  Needless to say, I have been bursting with excitement…  The first collection City Life ships in December.  That means we are just 2 weeks away!  Just in time for holiday sewing, crafting, creating, making… you get the idea!

When I was a little girl, I would be the one who yelled surprise before the rest of the room!  I would blurt out good news to anyone in my path… (good thing I had chubby cheeks and pig tails or I would have gotten into lots of trouble spilling all those beans)… I’m so glad we have arrived!

When I think of Ink & Arrow Fabrics, I smile.  🙂  There are quirky little hidden icons in each of the designs, there is a sense of humor and a fun twist to each collection.  The goal with these fabrics is to just have fun and create.  #NoRulesJustFabric.

Our fabric is FUN and it can be used for a million different things…

What will you create with Ink & Arrow?
